Assisted Living and Memory Care in Charleston, WV
Brookdale Charleston Gardens offers a beautiful Assisted Living and Memory Care community for seniors. With a continuum of care, our loving family is designed to support those needing some assistance with daily activities and others who have Alzheimer’s or dementia. Residents have the security of knowing they can remain here, in their home, without having to relocate and separate from their familiar surroundings and friendships, should their needs change over time.
We are conveniently located in a quiet business park only minutes from downtown, near various banks, the post office, as well as Coonskin Park and Kanawha State Forest. Several medical facilities are nearby including CAMC, St. Francis and Thomas Hospitals. Our community is located off Greenbrier Street near the state capital with easy access to Yeager Airport.
A Wonderful Place to Call Home
Charleston Gardens offers a friendly, home-like environment which you feel as soon as you enter the front door. Cheerful smiles from our caring, professional staff greet you everyday. Brookdale’s peaceful setting, restaurant-style dining, transportation services and activities programs create a wonderful living environment for our seniors.
We offer 95 private apartments in a variety of styles, on two floors with an elevator for easy access. Residents and their families can socialize in the many tastefully decorated common areas in our home including a TV room, lobby, an activity room and a beauty shop for added convenience. Our staff prides itself on respecting the privacy and individuality of each person, while at the same time creating a real sense of community.
An Active and Engaging Lifestyle
An array of social, educational and cultural programs encourages each resident to rekindle their old interests and explore new ones with friends and neighbors. Brookdale offers many planned activities each week and loves taking our seniors for day excursions such as visits to the State Capitol, Craik-Patton House, the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences or the Mountain Stage.
We hold monthly “family nights” that are filled entertainment, often provided by the community’s own staff. Annual anniversary and holiday parties take place, as well as exercise classes, religious events and even happy hour. One of the more exciting events are the resident’s corn hole games and tournament.
Substantial investments in our culinary program and staffing, allow us to provide mealtime experiences that set our communities apart from the competition. From a Culinary Arts Training for chefs, to select seasonings and bakery options, Brookdale has created one of the industry’s leading dining services. Our fine dining experience is prepared by a trained chef and receives nutritional support and recommendations from a registered dietician.
Three restaurant-style meals are served each day in the group dining room and snacks are provided throughout the day. We continue to meet the nutritional needs of residents with dining choices that promote their health and well-being. Each meal offers a selection of delicious choices, sensational service and we always accommodate special restrictions and requests.
To help alleviate any confusion or added stress, we keep mealtimes very routine for our Memory Care community. Residents all sit together at the same time and same table each day. Meals are served on colorful plates and tablecloths so they can more easily distinguish their food. We also provide easy-to-eat snacks between meals, helping to ensure these residents get the nutrition and calorie count they need.
Pet Friendly Community
We have witnessed first-hand the wide range of physical and emotional benefits that pets have provided for our residents. Not only do they offer companionship, they can also lower the risk for heart disease and help ease any feelings of stress, depression or loneliness.
